Horsemanship Camp
The
goal of the Camp Resolute Horsemanship Camp is to teach participants the
fundamentals of riding while developing skills, coordination and confidence. The
equestrian staff is comprised of experienced horse lovers, eager to share their
knowledge with campers. This week-long horse program is an adventure-filled
experience. Highlights include horseback riding (of course), swimming, rifle
shooting, campfires and much, much more. Scouts will earn the Horsemanship Merit
Badge.
Camp Resolute Horsemanship Camp teaches you the responsibility of managing the
daily care of your horse. Riding lessons by top professional instructors will
develop balance and coordination. Mastering control over a 1,000 pound animal
will definitely
improve self confidence. The daily responsibility of chores will teach you the
skills needed to care and manage your own horse. Some of the week's activities
include: learning about feed, how to groom a horse, how to longe a horse, how
young horses are trained, how horses are judged in competitions, how to massage
and stretch a horse, how to clean and condition saddles and bridles, how to
clean a stall, how to bathe a horse, how to clip a horse for a show, and
everything else involved in complete horse care and showing.
The grand finale of the week is a horse show where you will be the participant.
This unique program is limited to 8 Scouts on a first-come, first-served basis.
Must be at least 13 years old.
